Some days, when I am watching a movie, I ask myself: "Why am I doing this? Why do I sit here and watch other people live? Why don't I go do those things?" Now these are all good questions to ask yourself, are you watching the movie because you want entertainment or are you watching the movie because you are too afraid to get out and live life for yourself.
Watching movies can be so fun, you can see the depths of a cave, the top of a mountain, the inner workings of a scary gang. Things that may be hard for you to do for real. You are able to experience the beauty, the magic, the moment. You can relive it over and over.
That's the funny part about movies that you watch more than once. You know what is going to happen, yet everything is still so new and exciting for the characters. It's like watching a tapping of your wedding over and over. You can relive that experience as many times as you want simply by pressing play.
It is frustrating some times when you are watching a movie and you know the character is going to do something stupid that they will regret forever, you want to yell at them (which I do ^.^), to warn them to stop before they make that huge mistake. But no matter how hard you try, they do it. Over and over again.
If you are like me, you get attached to the characters, they are no longer just actors portraying someones idea of a person, they are a human being, someone with a history, a future. Life doesn't stop when the movie ends, you always wonder what happens after the credits roll.
Now the point of this post is for you to ask yourself, do you watch movies (countless movies-_-) because you get enjoyment out of them, you get to go and see things you never would be able to see for yourself or is it because you are too scared to go out and live. Are you too afraid of the world beyond your couch and that tub of popcorn?
Now I will be cheesy and insert a quote from a movie that is very dear to me, the movie is You've Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. The quote is said by Meg Ryan's Character:
"Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life - well, valuable, but small - and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void."
Make it so stuff in the movies reminds you of your life, not the other way around. Make the reality of the movies be only a part of the true reality of you.
But as always watch on, cuz let's be honest there's always time for a movie, eh? ;)
