Some days, when I am watching a movie, I ask myself: "Why am I doing this? Why do I sit here and watch other people live? Why don't I go do those things?" Now these are all good questions to ask yourself, are you watching the movie because you want entertainment or are you watching the movie because you are too afraid to get out and live life for yourself.
Watching movies can be so fun, you can see the depths of a cave, the top of a mountain, the inner workings of a scary gang. Things that may be hard for you to do for real. You are able to experience the beauty, the magic, the moment. You can relive it over and over.
That's the funny part about movies that you watch more than once. You know what is going to happen, yet everything is still so new and exciting for the characters. It's like watching a tapping of your wedding over and over. You can relive that experience as many times as you want simply by pressing play.
It is frustrating some times when you are watching a movie and you know the character is going to do something stupid that they will regret forever, you want to yell at them (which I do ^.^), to warn them to stop before they make that huge mistake. But no matter how hard you try, they do it. Over and over again.
If you are like me, you get attached to the characters, they are no longer just actors portraying someones idea of a person, they are a human being, someone with a history, a future. Life doesn't stop when the movie ends, you always wonder what happens after the credits roll.
Now the point of this post is for you to ask yourself, do you watch movies (countless movies-_-) because you get enjoyment out of them, you get to go and see things you never would be able to see for yourself or is it because you are too scared to go out and live. Are you too afraid of the world beyond your couch and that tub of popcorn?
Now I will be cheesy and insert a quote from a movie that is very dear to me, the movie is You've Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. The quote is said by Meg Ryan's Character:
"Sometimes I wonder about my life. I lead a small life - well, valuable, but small - and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven't been brave? So much of what I see reminds me of something I read in a book, when shouldn't it be the other way around? I don't really want an answer. I just want to send this cosmic question out into the void. So good night, dear void."
Make it so stuff in the movies reminds you of your life, not the other way around. Make the reality of the movies be only a part of the true reality of you.
But as always watch on, cuz let's be honest there's always time for a movie, eh? ;)

Looking For a Place to Belong?
This week I have been feeling a little down in the dumps. What better way to cheer myself up than watching a great movie from my childhood?
This week's movie starts out in a teddy bear making factory just before Christmas. The factory workers have been pulling very long hours in order to fill all the Christmas orders. One tiered worker who inspects the bears as they enter the smile-enator was distracted and didn't notice a little bear laying on his side. The poor little bear got his mouth sewn on upside down!
The little bear goes with all his brothers and sisters to the department store where he ends up on the discount table. He meats lots of other misfit toys who just want a place to belong. The bear ends up in a discount store where he finally learns the true meaning of belonging.
The bear had to go threw so many different challenges, getting his fur bleached, being overlooked by children, being left in the snow, until he truly was able to accept who and what he is.
This is a heart warming movie that hopefully will keep you going threw this week!

The Evil Dead
I had never seen the original (However, I'm watching right now at this very minute). I went into the movie completely blind, armed with my trusty jacket and a package of Twizzlers.
From the very start I was freaked out. The music was phenomenal! You know when you watch a scary movie and the music just makes everything even worse? Yeah well the makers of this movie definitely succeeded in this department!
Now, there is one major difference that I want to point out between the original and the remake: the reason that the group of people went to the creepy cabin. In the original they went just for a nice getaway weekend while in the new one they go there as an intervention for the sister.
Now I really don't want to say much about the new movie since it is just new and spoiling movies for other people is something I really do not like doing. But, with that said, I would like to say that if you can't handle an enormous amounts of blood and gore this is not the movie for you.
Did I hide under my jacket for half of the movie? Yes. Did I cover my ears? Yes. But I assure you I got the just of the movie, I just honestly could not handle how terrifying it was!
Now there is one more part to my Evil Dead experience that I left out. I went to the movie with my mom, dad, and uncle Matt. My mom loves the Evil Dead... but my Uncle LOVES the Evil Dead. Throughout the entire movie he was making connections between the original and this one, for example:
One last thing I want to point out is that the original was funny, it really truly was. There was plenty of comic relief, actual comedy that everyone could laugh at. Now the remake does have some comedy, in approximately three places. But it's dry, demented humor that was really hard to pick up on.
Would I recommend this movie to you? Yes, If you are a person who truly loves gory films. No, if you can't stand bloody, possession movies. If you are torn because you loved the old movie and you are afraid that this one will ruin it. I assure you that a true Deadite gave it two enthusiastic tthumbs up!
