Unwind With a Good Movie

Hey guys, let me start out by saying it's been another stressful week! I'm preparing for BPA state competition, getting ready for some extended family to move into our house for a while and trying to wrap up all loose ends from this quarter. . (That's right, in my school third quarter is almost over! Woot! Woot! Almost a senior!)

So basically I need to be able to unwind with a good movie! What movie you ask? Well I was thinking a good older cartoon, which happens to be on my top favorite list... The Emperor's new Groove.

If you haven't seen this movie here's the low down! The movie starts out with a young emperor that is completely conceded.  He only cares about himself and how HE can make His life better rather than focusing on the people in his kingdom. Now enter in a nice family man from a near by village who has come to talk to the emperor.  The emperor tells him that he has decided to completely destroy his village for a summer home for himself!

Well... without giving away all the details I will say this: the emperor turns into a lama and needs to discover what's truly important in life in order to turns back.

Now obviously there is stuff in between and keep in mind: his movie truly is FUNNY! You will most defiantly laugh out loud on more than one occasion. :)

Some times life gets hard, you need o take time for the little things, breath, and just know that no mater how hard it is, or how bad the situation looks (like for instance getting you village destroyed by a crazy emperor) it will get better!

If you guys have any movies that help you unwind let me know in the comments!

 Until next time, Watch on!

WDRW #8

Hey guys! I come to you from my History of Rock and Roll class, we got an assignment that I finished early (we had to research bands, I'm completely done except for the Sex Pistols because my school blocked us from searching anything with the word "sex" involved.  Understandable, yet very annoying in my circumstances.) So today all the teachers in my district have meetings which means my class and I all get to be released from school at 12:30!! And lets not forget the wonderful presidents from years past, that's right, NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!

But now onto the point, last week I was able to watch a considerable amount of movies.  Without any further delay here is this weeks WDRW!

  • Groundhog Day
  • Valentines Day
  • The Sasquatch Gang
  • 500 Days of Summer
  • The Decedents
  • Gone
  • The Sorcerers Apprentice
  • Scream 4
  • The Invasion of the Body Snatchers
  • An Affair to Remember
  • Arsenic and Old Lace
Offda! I told you it was a pretty hearty list!  Did you guys watch any good movies this past week?  Let me know in the comments!

Kiki's Delivery Service

Have you ever loved something to death but you just couldn't do it? Take drawing for instance, say you just love, love, love to draw, you do it every day. Then one day, you don't know what to draw.  You're scared, for your entire life you have been planning on going to get a degree in art... but now you don't know any more.

No matter what age you are, at times it can be difficult to find inspiration. This is what happens to Kiki, the main character of today's movie.  Kiki is a young witch who has to go out on her own for a year to complete her training.  At her age most witches already have a special skill that they are focusing on perfecting. Sadly the only skill Kiki has is flying, and she cant even do that well!

After Kiki and her trusty cat, Jiji, settle in a small town beside the sea she opens a quaint delivery service (hence the name Kiki's Delivery Service).  Kiki meets many people through her delivery service including: an artist whose lost her inspiration, an older woman who is shut out of her granddaughters life, and a young boy who will eventually grow to be her closest friend.

Right as her business is starting to boom Kiki suddenly losses her ability to fly!  She will have to look deep within herself and remember why she started training in the first place, and if she truly wants to continue.

I would strongly recommend watching this film.  The movie is a product of Japanese film maker Hayao Miyazaki from Studio Ghibli.  It may sound childish; however, it was crafted for all ages. Check it out guys and tell me what you think!

Until next time: Watch on!

WDRW # 7

So this week was even worse in terms of movie watching than last week! That's right, I watched a whooping three movies this week.  Now mind you, it's registration time at my school so there has been a lot going on... but that's no excuse for my measly movie viewing!

Rose's Pathetic Excuse For a List *insert fail music here*:
  • New Moon
  • Warm Bodies
  • Gattaca
Recommendation: You guys should defiantly check out Gattaca, I wont be doing a review on this one for quite some time because I missed the begging and I've only seen it one time.  But from what I saw the movie was fantastic!

Reanimated Zombies!

Today I want to talk about the dead literally coming back to life!  That's right folks, I went to the new movie Warm Bodies! The movie is about a zombie named R. R knows he is a zombie, he feels bad for eating people but understands that in order to survive he needs to eat human flesh. A while into the movie R saves Julie, the daughter of a super important human society, and keeps her in his zombie lair (his 'lair' is just as cool as it sounds, it is an airplane that is totally decked out with tons of things he has found during  his flesh eating excursions).

When R and Julie met, something happened, something inside of him started to change.  As it turns out it isn't just him, every zombie is feeling... different. What will happen to our less animated brothers? Will they ever see the light of day again?  I'm not going to tell you! you'll just have to wait and see!

Details:

  • Directed by: Jonathan Levine
  • Premiered: 2013
  • Rated: PG-13
  • Staring:
    • Nicholas Hoult as R
    • Tereas Palmer as Julie

Ps: My favorite part in Son in Law is when Crawl gets punched in the face.
